In the year 1950, Akij group started its journey with its first step in the Jute industry. Sheikh Akijuddin, the founder of the group, started a small-scale business in Khulna district and now the group is operating successfully in both local and foreign markets. The business portfolio of Akij Group includes Textile, Ceramics, Printing & Packaging, Pharmaceuticals, Food Products, Plastics, Pipes and many more. In 2009, the company was selected as the highest taxpayer by paying 390 million euros as Tax. Not to mention that two percent of the total budget of the organization is spent on the welfare of the country. Along with that Akij Group also makes financial contributions to healthcare, information and communication technologies.
